Symposium in Reliability Theory and Industrial Statistics
The reliability of system thereby became a subject undergoing intense study. Yet, some organizations in Hong Kong are still grounded in traditional practice due to few publicity of reliability methods. The proposed symposium served as a platform to promote the field of reliability theory and industrial statistics and facilitate the exchange of ideas among experts.
Recent Developments in Business Analytics and New Research Directions
The proposed project will invite renowned researchers from the statistics and information technology/systems fields to share their insights in four hot areas in business analytics. Each workshop will have a main theme and will consist of around three talks. Two workshops will focus on financial/economic analytics, one on risk analytics, one on social media analytics, and one on machine learning and big data analytics.
Symposia in Data Science
This project is a series of symposia on the hot trends and cutting edge technology in Data Science. Topics chosen are Data Mining and Knowledge Recovery, Statistical Computing, Actuarial Science, Risk Management, and Bioinformatics and Medical Imaging. The symposia aim to provide a platform for knowledge exchange among scholars and professionals from different institutions and the industry all around the world and promote the importance of Data Science to students and non-experts.
Workshop Series in Applied Statistics
This project is a 5-day workshop with about three to four lectures/talks each day given by invited speakers on topics within the realm of Applied Statistics. Speakers include scholars from our college, other local UGC funded as well as private universities, and overseas. Topics chosen include: Applied Statistics in Image Processing, Statistical Methods in Medical Science/Bioinfomatics, Statistics in Finance and Operation Research, Teaching & Learning Data Science, and Statistical Theory and Data Analysis Techniques.
