International Symposium on Data Science Frontier – Biostatistics and Health Session

Organised by the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Insurance (MSI), the International Symposium on Data Science Frontier was successfully held from 8 to 10 July 2026 at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, spotlighting cutting-edge advancements in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

Professor Choy Siu Kai, Head of MSI, and Dr. Siu Chi Chung, Associate Head of MSI warmly welcomed the invited guests joining the Biostatistics and Health Session. Three distinguished academics delivered insightful presentations as follows:

  • Professor Jian Qing Shi, Professor of Southern University of Science and Technology, kicked off with “Statistical Learning for Multimodal Data and its Applications in Aging”
  • Professor Guoliang Tian, Professor of Southern University of Science and Technology, presented “A new MM algorithm for root–finding problems”
  • Professor Tony Hon Keung Ng, Professor of Bentley University, shared his expertise on “Stochastic-Process and Parametric Modeling for Uncertainty-Quantified Drug Dissolution Profile Similarity”

Subsequently, Dr. Benson Lam, Associate Professor of MSI and convenor of the symposium, hosted the Open Discussion. Experts engaged in highly productive and stimulating dialogues.

This symposium is supported by a grant from the Research Grant Council of the HKSAR, China (UGC/IIDS14/P01/25).

Professor Tony Hon Keung Ng of Bentley University delivered an engaging presentation.

Dr. Benson Lam, Associate Professor of MSI and convenor of the symposium, discussed the impact of Artificial Intelligence with the speakers.
