Research Seminars and Forums

Organised by the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Insurance (MSI), the International Symposium on Data Science Frontier was successfully held from 8 to 10 July 2026 at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, spotlighting cutting-edge advancements in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Professor Choy Siu Kai, Head of MSI, and Dr. Siu Chi Chung, Associate Head of MSI warmly welcomed the invited guests joining the Industrial Data Science Session. Three distinguished industrial leaders delivered insightful presentations as follows:

• Alex Zhang, Head of Data Monetisation, HKT Limited, kicked off with “GenAI Meets Data Security: In-House LLMs with Retrieval, Multi-Model Capabilities, and the Path Forward”
• Alex Chung, Senior Enterprise Solutions Manager of SAS Institute Limited, presented “Advancing with Artificial Intelligence in Financial Industry”
• Arthur Chan, Vice Chairman of IAB, Hong Kong, shared his expertise on “Industrial Data Science in Action: From Production Efficiency to Real-World AI Measurement”

Subsequently, Dr. Benson Lam, Associate Professor of MSI and convenor of the symposium, hosted the Open Discussion and engaging and productive conversations were sparked among participants.

This symposium is supported by a grant from the Research Grant Council of the HKSAR, China (UGC/IIDS14/P01/25).
