On 24 September 2026 (Thursday), the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Insurance (MSI) at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) hosted a “CFA Roadshow Talk” in Room A303, S H Ho Academic Building (Block A). The event was supported by CFA Society Hong Kong and CFA Institute, and was jointly organised for students of three programmes under the Department, namely the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Actuarial Studies and Insurance (BSc-AIN), the Master of Science in Insurance (MSc-INS), and the Master of Science in Risk Analytics (MSc-RA). The talk attracted enthusiastic participation from students across these programmes.

The Department was honoured to welcome a distinguished panel of speakers from the finance and investment industry. Dr WAT, K.P. (SFHEA, FSA, FASHK, CERA, CFA, FRM), Associate Head of the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), shared his expertise alongside Ms Candy WONG (CFA), Honorary Lecturer at HKU, Vice-Chair of the University Outreach Committee of CFA Society Hong Kong, and former Managing Director and Head of HK/China Equity Sales at Morgan Stanley. Ms Joyce YIM (CFA, ACA, CPA, CESGA), Wealth Management Director at AIA and former Managing Director of Morgan Stanley, also joined the panel, together with a representative from CFA Institute.

The talk covered a wide range of topics, including an introduction to CFA Society Hong Kong and CFA Institute, an overview of the CFA Programme and candidate services, the CFA Institute Research Challenge — a prestigious global case competition — as well as guest sharing and panel discussion on career development. The speakers also offered practical tips on recruitment steps and strategies for pursuing banking jobs, drawing upon their extensive professional experience in the financial services sector.

The interactive Q&A session was particularly well received, with students actively engaging the speakers on topics ranging from the value of the CFA qualification in complementing their academic studies to career planning in finance, banking, and wealth management. The speakers provided candid and insightful advice that resonated strongly with the audience.
