BSc-DSBI Alumni Team Wins Championship at PMI APAC Student Competition 2026

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Data Science and Business Intelligence (BSc-DSBI) Programme is proud to share the outstanding achievement of four of its recent graduates who were crowned Champion at the PMI APAC Student Competition 2026 held in Seoul, South Korea.

Representing Hong Kong on the Asia-Pacific stage, Team REAL, comprising Aaron Sin, Robert Chan, Eason Lau, and Lucy Chan, competed alongside student teams from across the region and emerged as the overall champion. Notably, all four members of Team REAL are graduates of the BSc-DSBI Programme in 2025, making this achievement a significant milestone for both the team and the Programme.

The PMI APAC Student Competition provides participants with an opportunity to apply project management knowledge and skills to real-world challenges. Throughout the competition, Team REAL demonstrated exceptional teamwork, professionalism, and problem-solving capabilities. Their achievement reflects not only the successful outcome of the competition, but also their ability to apply project management principles, transform ideas into practical solutions, respond effectively to feedback, and communicate with clarity and confidence.

The achievement was made possible through the platform provided by the PMI Hong Kong Chapter and the PMI Hong Kong Student Club, which support student engagement and development in project management. Team REAL was coached by Dr. Jacky Ting, Vice President of Young PM Development of PMI Hong Kong Chapter, who guided the team throughout the competition journey.

This remarkable accomplishment showcases the versatility of BSc-DSBI graduates and highlights how the analytical thinking, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills cultivated through the Programme can be applied across different professional disciplines. It also demonstrates the ability of our graduates to excel in international competitions and contribute meaningfully in multidisciplinary environments.
