The Master of Science in Risk Analytics (MSc-RA) programme officially kicked off the new academic year with a vibrant Orientation Day lunch buffet held on August 31, 2024, at The Langham Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui.

The event brought together 18 incoming students and 20 faculty members in a warm and engaging atmosphere. The programme began with an inspiring welcome speech by Professor CHAN Wai Sum, Dean of the School of Decision Sciences, who provided an insightful overview of the School’s vision and academic strengths. Following that, Professor CHOY Siu Kai, Head of the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Insurance, introduced the Department and shared recent updates and developments.

Dr NG Wai Leong, Programme Director of MSc-RA, then offered a comprehensive briefing on the study plan, curriculum structure, and academic regulations, helping students gain a clear understanding of the programme’s expectations and opportunities. To conclude, Dr CHEN Yongzhao, Associate Programme Director, delivered a lively and relatable sharing session about student life at HSUHK, along with practical tips for adapting to Hong Kong’s culture and lifestyle.

The lunch provided a valuable opportunity for students to connect with faculty and peers, fostering a sense of community and collaboration from day one. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm and anticipation, reflecting the programme’s commitment to academic excellence and student support.
