The Service-Learning Programme has been launched in 2019/20. It aims to develop students’ academic skills, sense of social responsibility, and commitment to the community. In the Programme, students can apply their academic knowledge and skills to address community needs, in collaboration with non-profit organizations.
Collaboration with Haven of Hope Hospital
BSC-DSBI Programme collaborates with the Haven of Hope Hospital which provides subacute medical care, comprehensive rehabilitation and long-term care.
In 2019/20, three teams (thirteen Year 2-4 BSC-DSBI students) were recruited to analyse the elderly health care data provided by the Hospital to better understand the relationships of the diseases and health factors.
With team advisors’ guidance and coaching, students studied the healthcare data and applied various data analytical tools learnt from the classes to perform data cleansing and association analysis.
Students delivered presentation on their findings.
