The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Actuarial Studies and Insurance (BSc-AIN) programme has a variety of programme-specific scholarships for students.

Details

AR Charitable Foundation – Chartered Insurance Institute Qualification Examinations Award

To encourage to pursue their studies and careers in insurance, the AR Charitable Foundation Limited has established an award at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong in the academic year 2020/21. The amount of the award is HK$5,000 for each module of Chartered Insurance Institute Qualification. Each eligible student can apply for two awards at maximum within their studies in BSc-AIN programme.

 

Eligibility & Criteria

  • Current students of BSc-AIN programme who have attained a pass result from the Exam(s) at the time of the award application;
  • Only two modules, Insurance Law (M05) and Insurance Business and Finance (M92), of the Exam(s) are eligible for the award;
  • Priority would be given to students with higher Year GPA; and
  • With Year GPA of 2.0 or above.

CMG Entrance Scholarship in Actuarial Studies and Insurance

Starting from academic year 2022/23, a maximum of two scholarships will be awarded in each academic year. The entrance scholarship, valued at HK$20,000 for each awardee, is tenable for two consecutive academic years, and is renewable subject to maintaining a Year GPA of 3.3 or above in the awardee’s second study year.

 

Eligibility & Criteria

  • Full-time local Year 1 entrants of BSc-AIN;
  • Attain a minimum total score of 18 scores in the best five subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination, meeting the minimum admission requirements (including a minimum of Level 3 for Chinese Language and English Language and Mathematics (Compulsory Part), and Level 2 for Liberal Studies and one elective subject in Category A (except M1/M2)); and
  • Attend a selection interview if necessary.

CMG Subject Prize

Starting from academic year 2022/23, a maximum of one subject prize, for each of the modules AIN3330 Life and Health Insurance and AIN3520 Property and Liability Insurance, will be awarded in each academic year. The subject prize is valued at HK$5,000 for each awardee.

 

Eligibility & Criteria

  • Full time students of BSc-AIN;
  • Students with the best module scores; and
  • Attend selection interview if necessary.

The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers Scholarships

Beginning the academic year 2018/19, the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers Educational Trust will provide scholarships for undergraduates of BSc-AIN programme with the objective of encouraging tertiary education on insurance. There shall be four scholarships of HK$20,000 each.

 

Eligibility & Criteria

  • Permanent residents of Hong Kong;
  • Year 2, Year 3 or Year 4 undergraduates in BSc-AIN;
  • Must be among the top six students in their class and have attained a minimum CGPA of 3.0;
  • The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit and needs, and the performance in selection interview, if applicable.
  • For Year 2 student, he/she must have completed second year of study for consideration of the scholarship.
