The Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Insurance was pleased to organise a research seminar titled “Inverse Problems with Passive Measurements and Applications” on 1 December 2022.

We are delighted to invite Professor Hongyu Liu, Associate Head and Professor at the Department of Mathematics, City University of Hong Kong to share his research topic. Professor Liu first introduced the basic idea of inverse problems. He then shared inverse problems arises in a variety of cutting-edge applications including photo-acoustic tomography, magnetic anomaly detection technology, earthquake precursor detection and cosmological exploration. Academic staff of the Department participated in the seminar and actively shared their views on the topic.
