On 25 April 2024, teachers and students from the BSc-AIN & BSc-DSBI programmes had the privilege of visiting the Headquarters of the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) in Wan Chai. Our visit was graciously hosted by Ms. May NG, a Statistician from the General Statistics Branch.

During our visit, Ms. NG provided us with a comprehensive introduction to the Government Statistical Service, the organizational structure and functions of the C&SD, as well as the various career opportunities available within the department. Additionally, we had the opportunity to explore the Service Centre on Trade Statistics, further enhancing our understanding of the department’s operations.

This visit and the valuable insights shared by Ms. NG allowed our students to gain a deeper understanding of the C&SD’s organization, the breadth of its work, and the potential career paths within the department. It also provided them with a meaningful off-campus learning experience that is directly relevant to their future profession.
